Help, Converted Indivduals To Companies And Now Database Is Messed Up

Alright everyone, I sure hope someone can help me with this.  I converted all my contacts to Companies.

Im in the Automotive Buisness.  With maximizer if i have 2 people buying a car and there un married there is not a place for multiple contacts in an individual.  Maximizer support told me to convert to company and then i could attatch multiple contacts to one person.  Which works.  This is my problem.  All of my contacts in the address book are listed and found by first name now not last.  There is no way from what i can see that will allow me to search the "company files" by last name.  This is a huge problem.  Is there anyway i can covert the database with all notes, and attatched files back to individuals?

It can be done by manipulating the backend of the database.  Probably best if you get your local maximizer consultant to help you.  Or ask the Maximizer person who told you to do it in the first place without warning you!

You can add contacts to an Individual record in the same way that you can add Contacts to a Company record.  I think this would work well for you.

The thing to beware of is that you are effectively treating the Individual record like a primary contact.  If you delete the individual record, it will also delete any contacts attached to it.  So if you want to preserve them, you could use the function to convert a contact to an individual.

You can adjust the columns so that the last name is displayed first. Customizing the columns is easy, and is found under view>column set up.

You can also do a search by either first or last name. If the company name is now the first name go to search, company, type the name in the "range" option, and you will find the person that way.

I had a problem at first too, and I had to go back in and delete all of my entries and re-enter them because I tried to import and it messed up the whole thing. It was a pain to say the least, but it was worth it.

    I hope this helps!
