Search for a list of all the companies and contacts where a sales rep is the account manager

    Hi,

In Maximizer, our Manager need to obtain the list of all the companies that are managed by an account manager. We use the 'Account Manager' field that is aadded to Company. The result should be as below:

    Company|First Name|Last Name|Phone number|email|Account manager

The problem is that the Account manager's field is not added to contact so that it takes five actions to obtain this kind of view; i have to configure a special column view then I have to perform a search on Account manager then extract the contact (+ invert selection + Display selection) to obtain what we want.

is there a way to obtain the same result faster?

    regards,

    Fiatlux

The problem you've described is to retrieve all contacts for companies that have a particular company UDF value.  I don't know a faster way to do it than this.

    1. Search for company records with the field value.

    2. Select all

    3. Search/Retrieve Contacts

    4. Edit/Invert Selection

    5. Edit/Make Selected List Current.

No need for any special views.

You could try recording a macro (Tools->Record Macro) to do steps 2-5 and then create a custom button (View->Toolbars->Add->Add) which points to the macro.

Then you only have to do step 1 and press a button :-)

P.S. I recommend ignoring the mouse and using key strokes when recording the macro

How does Max handle the timing of Macros?

After all search results can take different  lengths of time, and if you want to include something like a global edit,   the time it takes to process everything can vary.  Does the timing between clicks/keystrokes remain the same as the first time the Macro is run, or is it dependant on when Max fully completes the previous operation.
