Moving Maximiser 10.5 R2 to a new server

Was just wondering about how I go about this. Currently the Maximiser databases are stored on a server called SQL. Now I figured that moving the databases after installing Maximiser on a new server should be as simple as either:

1) backing up / restoring over the databases in the new Maximiser install.

2) Just removing the newly created databases and attaching the old databases in their place.

The only problem is that when you do either of these, Maximiser won't open as the server is no longer called SQL. Is there a way to change the name associated with the database files somewhere? I'd rather not have the server called SQL if at all possible.

Problem with duplicate checking in Maximizer 10.5

I am trying to import a list of individuals in to the address book. I have enabled the duplicate checking option and checking for all emails. But inspite of all this Maximizer doesn't seem to be checking the duplicates and importing every single record. I am sure there are records in the list which already exist in Maximizer. Any help or suggestions on this will be great.

How can I update Maximizer 10.5 to 11?

Hi,

It´s possible to upgrade the version 10.5 to 11 without uninstall the version 10.5?

I don´t see any option to do this. I try to install the version 11 in the server with the version 10.5 installed in it, but when I start the installation (from CD) the program tell me that "There are an other version of Maximizer installed in this computer" and I can´t do anything.

It´s necessary to uninstall the versión 10.5 and after install the version 11?Or there are some way to upgrade the program?

I know one can reconcile word documents to Maximizer, but is there any way to export (on mass) data from maximizer to word? BTW I am using Max Enterprise 5.0..

Hi,

I have struggled with maximizer- actually, moving from GM to maximizer for some time now, and this is my first plea for help from the community.

I have been using GM 5, then 6 then 6.5 and tehn 6.7

i want to import from GM to maximizer but even with the latest patches (version 9), i get an error- "Error at end of table"..and no imports.

The other issue is that maximizer doesnt have an option to select GM version 6.7 as a DBF edition. only SQL.

So i try to use the GM v 6.5 or earlier options and no joy.

I'd dearly like to try to use maximizer but without being able to get data out of GM, i cant afford the time and effort to put into making it happen.

Is anyone else getting the same errors?- ive tried various contact databases including the stock standard ones supplied with GM. all exhibit the same error.

Importing Outlook Address Data

I want to import my outlook 2003 address book into Maximizer 10 Entrepreneur.

I successfully imported the outlook address book using the sync function. However, there are several Outlook fields (User 1, User 2, User 3, etc) that are not being brought into Maximizer during the sync. The fields are "Misc Fields" located under the "All Fields" Outlook tab within a contact. I have created UDFs within Maximizer to represent the Outlook data fields.

Is there a way during a sync operation or using an import/address book entries or using an import/other contact database to populate the data for each contact into the UDFs?

Importing csv files into Maximizer 10

I am having some trouble importing a csv file into Maximizer 10. The message comes up at the end "file partly imported". When I import the contact names do they have to be the same as the field names in my CSV document? I am going to File, Import, Other Contact Manager Database. Where do I choose between companies/individuals or Contacts. Would appreciate any help

Moving a Maximizer Entrepreneur 10 installation

Hi all,

I'm going to be moving a Maximizer Entrepreneur 10 installation from a 2003 Small Business Server to a 2008, with the `03 going offline afterwards.

I haven't been able to uncover anything specific in the documentation or knowledge base about doing this with Entrepreneur.

In testing I was able to get the databases moved from one SQL Express install to the other. I did have to re-create the SQL user accounts that the Maximizer user accounts match up to on the new server, but other than that I didn't see any obvious hiccups. Has anyone had any experience in making such a migration before? While my tests look ok I'm concerned that I may have missed something.

Problem importing CSV data into Maximizer 10 address book

I'm now in the process of trying to import a small CSV file into an address book that I created within Maximizer 10. The problem is that once I select the CSV file, Maximizer pops up a blank form (with only a red circle with an X in the middle) - no text error message at all. I am logged in as Master of this address book, so I should have administrative rights to do this. I'm just not sure how or why this is happening. Help!

How do I import my product list into Maximizer 10.5

I have a question on Products/Services handling.

I want to know how I import a product list into Maximizer. Is there a price list area where this can be done. I would have expected that when you create an opportunity that it can very feasibly be for a number of products one sells, and there would be a "Quote Form" that is linked to an opportunity.

Is there a way to handle this in Max 10.5?

Appreciate some assistance.

Maxlink sync no longer works

My maxlink used to update my Palm Tunsten T3 under Maximizer Enterprise 9.

I upgraded to Maximizer Enterprise 10 and Loaded Maxlink 10 now it doesn't sync with Palm Tunsten T3, plus the sync no longer works. I tried installing PalmOne 4.1.4. Have set mode to Synchronize Maximizer and Palm/Handspring data

I'm using Maximizer Enterprise 10 and Maxlink 10 series 1804.

How do I get the Maxlink to work with Palm Tunsten T3?

transfer all info from Max 9 to Max 10

I am in the processing of transfer all info from Max 9 to Max 10 and cannot accomplish it.
The older Max 9 is on old laptop and have installed Max 10 on his new one.
I backed up the file on the old machine and installed the in a folder on the new machine (all these *. sav files).

Tried using Utilities=>Upgrade to upgrade .sav file to v10 directly and keep getting an error of "Failed to connect due to invalid database entries found in the configuration file".
But I know it created the database because if I run it again I get dup database name error.
What needs to be done to the configuration file?

Vcard Import Crashes Max

Importing data into UDF's

When I wanted to import new product items someone kindly helped me on this forum and the import was 100% successful.

I want to import some items into UDF's. I am using one of the supplied DB schemas for IT companies and in the Sales>Lead Qualification area is a field called "Product Interest". I would like to import the same data I imported into Products/Services here.

Could someone please assist me how I can do this, and provide a sample XML.

I am looking for a way to update fields such as City, Country, etc. I have tried to map OBDC in Access and when I try to update, I get a SQL error. There has to be an easier way to mass update in Maximizer.

If we use this to promote and sell items, how is it we are supposed to import a catalog of items? I have been unable to find a schema or template of the required data structure.

I have also looked around for ways for the website integration features and the GUI has me completely lost.

Can anyone offer some pointers/insight.

I have an excel file of updated criteria on my existing database. I exported our entire database and now have an excel file of about 8800 records that have updated UDF information. I have made inquiries to several "Maxperts" but I can't seem to find anyone that know how to do this? I know I need XML format, I need to map it to the Max Schema, but the repeatable elements are not letting my repeat. Therefore, if I have more than 2 UDF's to update at a time, I'll have to do several passes on this import.

Has anyone ever done/used Advanced Import? I have all this great updated info, including Basic fields as well as UDF's. Please help if you can!

Overwriting individual feilds but not others without creating dups

I maintain a database of about 70,000 names.

I receive updates to this database on a regular basis from various outside sources. The information is given to me in Excel files. What usually happens is that someone moves or their phone number changes.

I would like to be able to import ONLY the fields that I am interested in without disturbing the rest of the record. I don't want to create a duplicate record. I want to overwrite the phone number feild in Joe Blow's record, leaving the rest of record intact.

I would also need a report of the records that weren't successful in going into the database. The database is big enough that there might be more than one John Smith. Maximizer would have to match both the name and address before inserting the phone number. If it didn't match, I need a report of the outstanding failures so that I could deal with them by hand.

Also, IF the above ability exists, is it possible for me to OK each record before updating. For instance, can Maximize show me the original record side by side with the pending imported record with a tick-off saying it is OK to complete the overwrite????????? (I suspect not, am asking).

Export to SQL

Hello All!

Trying to export the entire contents of a Maximiser 6.0 system into SQL.
(Btrieve version 07.80N)

I'm using the import facility in SQL 2000 - using the Pervasive ODBC driver (version 7.82.198.01) to import from.
(strangely the Pervasive ODBC driver doesnt appear as an option to import from when using SQL 2005 or 2008 - but i can live with SQL 2000 as it can be backed up and used elsewhere once successfully imported)

99.9% of the tables (include a ton of customised tables) and their containing data are imported nicely.
(ok so half a dozen tables need tweaking in SQL to allow null values and then importing again, but thats no hardship.)
The big problem is that the COMBINED_CLIENT_USER_FIELDS table is not being converted to SQL properly.
The error on that table is...

Code execution exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Cannot instantiate Storage Object for source column 144 ('U_2003_CTReturn') Blob data.
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

This obviously gives me an appropriate structure for that table in my target SQL database, but no data is brought over!
Making me wonder if SQL's choice of fields to create to facilitate the Maximiser data is incompatible with the data its trying to put into them.

I've looked for a more up-to-date ODBC driver, or an official maximiser-to-sql conversion tool, but found nothing.

Hoping theres some Maximiser veterans on here who will know what to do to resolve this.

Can anyone help?

MaxCRM 10 Entrepreneur Edition

I"m trying to get my Maximizer database restored on a new Vista computer from XP - I've never had any problem doing this from an XP to XP machine. When I try to restore - it's asking for the password which now appears to be different than the host machine. It is critical that I have Maximzer up & running!!!

I've also tried to Restore using the SQL Server Management tools - with no success...

Any other ideas????

Importing Clean Data

I exported the DB to clean up the files and to create order as how they are to be imported. Initially, they were entered as individuals so I had 20 individuals from the same company. I reversed the file to create the company then import the contacts. The issue is that since Maximizer considers the Company Name to be a duplicate only 1 of the 20 names gets added.

Anyway around this?
