MASTER password won't work - backed up - created new - and tried to restore

    Hello,

We were using WIndows XP Pro and bought a new HP with Windows Vista Ultimate. I backed up the Address books and then restored the backup on the new machine. After I backed up the sample address books (Sales,General,Financial) I created a new address book on the new machine and tried to restore it from the backup I created from the WIndows XP PRo machine. Whe I try to open, restore, or modify the address book it prompts me to type in the password. I am using control and it is give me an error message.

    Error Message:

Failed to login to the Address bookdue to invalid USer ID and/or password.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. IF by chance there is an wasier way to add the sample address books to the system please advise as well.

    THank You,

I was not in the loop at the time of installation. I will verify that we used this and if not will do so today and then try to open the sample address books. I will respond with an update this after noon.

Thanks You for your help! I am a NOOBI to Maximizer!!!

Re: MASTER password won't work - backed up - created new - and tried to restore

    Hello,

Yes we used the 64bit version to install Maximizer. Here is what I did:

    1. Had Maximizer already loaded via 64bit link. The sample DB's would load fine.

    2. Wanted to move to a new server...old server was 32bit Windows XP new server is 64bit Vista Ultimate.

    3. Backed up our address books to a external HD and then brought them over to the new machine.

    4. I did not know you could create a new address book and then restore the new book with your old books data. Instead I used Administrator and restored our old books to the two tutorials. And then used Administrator to rename the book to the name it had on the old server.

    5. The issue I found is that the address book would use the correct name but the DB would show up as the tutorial?

    6. After discovering the above I created a new address book with the correct name thus it created a new DB with the correct name. Then I used restore and restored the old servers address book to the newly created address book.

    7. I repeated (#6steps)  for our two different address books and the 5+ tutorials/sample adress books.

\Is there anything I can do to reload the sample DB's/address books into maximizer so they open...some will and some won't.

Please Adise and thank you for your help.

Re: MASTER password won't work - backed up - created new - and tried to restore

So did anyone find a resolution to this??? I'm having the same problem, my master password gets hosed and it tells me it's invalid, the difference is that I'm on a 32-bit version of Vista...I have absolutely no trouble restoring the Address Book from my XP laptop to an XP desktop - this is ONLY happening when moving to a 32-bit version of Vista...
